â€Å"You may be exaggerating a little,† he said holding her hands. â€Å"Come on†¦ I doubt your mother is that bad?† Pete gazed out the window. For the first time, Melissa shared one of her sentimental secrets. She told Pete she kept red bottles of Old Spice to spray her pillow once in a while to keep her father’s spirit alive. Pete expressed his understanding and told Melissa it was a great idea, adding that his deceased grandfather had worn it, too. Even though they grew to know one another intensely well, Pete had an advantage because he knew Melissa’s every move. It had been two years since the beginning of Pete and Melissa’s involvement, and she was weeks away from graduation day. Melissa had met Pete’s family and was adored by them. The plan was set in motion for their rendezvous to run off immediately following the graduation ceremony. When graduation day arrived, Pete laid low in the crowd where he hid from Tilly. The Maxwell family stood proud as they supported Melissa. After graduation, Melissa greeted her family and they gave congratulatory flowers, gifts and momentos. She told her family the graduates had plans to celebrate on an all night cruise on the Atlantic. The family gathered for brunch at the mansion a few hours before Melissa’s departure. As she walked to her car, she received an incoming text from Pete. â€Å"Meet me at the pier at 4 P.M.† She had a little over an hour to get home, freshen up and change clothes. Melissa and Pete looked forward to their new journey as they headed out to become husband and wife. They knew Tilly could do nothing once their nuptials took place. â€Å"What are you up to, Pete?† Melissa asked when Pete walked her to his car. He was grinning like a Cheshire cat. â€Å"Oh, nothing, but I must blindfold you, so turn around.† Pete gently tied a blue bandana around Melissa’s eyes. â€Å"No peeking.
